Our Summer Programs include credit and noncredit options designed to prepare rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors for the academic, social, and campus experiences of freshman year of college.

Building upon Northeastern's world-renowned reputation for experiential learning, our programs focus on helping students understand how academic topics are used in real-world applications.

Why Northeastern? At our Summer Programs your students will: 

  • Test an area of study. Prepare for college and beyond by exploring classes in environmental studies, entrepreneurship, robotics, and more.

Experience our Programs

The College Prep Experience
This 4-week program introduces rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to the academic experience in college to help prepare for the first year as an undergraduate student.

  • Credit-bearing course work mirrors traditional first-year college curriculum and may be transferred  to give students a head start on their first semester
  • Life skills workshops foster a smooth transition from high school to college

Summer Seminars
Offered in 3-week sessions, the seminars provide a specialized academic experience in programs unique to Northeastern.

  • Seminars earn 3 credits and foster a high level of student engagement and creativity
  • Students may choose from the following seminars: App Lab, Biology, Entrepreneurship, and Political Science

College 101
This distinctive summer experience is meant for high school students who are interested in preparing for the future as well as honing their academic skills. The 2-week, non-credit program offers the opportunity to engage in college-level learning, cultivate academic skills, and enjoy an authentic college experience. 

  • Courses focus on topics such as college writing, time management, and skills for academic success

Online Courses
This 6-week online program allows students to get a head start on college classes or build upon their high school curriculum, while completing a course anywhere with an internet connection

  • Courses earn 3 credits, which may be transferred toward an undergraduate degree 
  • Students may choose from the following courses: College Algebra, Introduction to Calculus, Elements of College Writing, Dynamics of Business, and Introduction to Environmental Studies

It's never to early to start planning for summer! Our application process is short and simple and our admissions team is here to answer any questions you or your students may have. The following are some important dates to keep in mind:

  • Application Deadline: May 16, 2014
  • Program Starts: June 29, 2014

What are our application requirements?

  • Completed online application
  • Three academic references (one guidance counselor plus teachers, principal, etc.)
    • Only required to submit contact information: full name, title, phone number, and email address
  • Official high school transcripts
