• Higher Education Administration
  For entry to mid-career professionals employed in institutions of higher learning or other organizations serving higher and tertiary education—this concentration explores complex industry issues including: student demographics, financial concerns, legal and policy requirements, technology, and competitive forces.
  
  
• Learning and Instruction
  For a broad range of educators, this concentration provides an in-depth look at the critical issues that are transforming the face of education—technology and distance learning, globalization, creative and critical thinking, assessments, and learning outcomes.
  
  
• Special Education
  For educators who are licensed at the initial or professional level in another discipline, this concentration explores specific topics on modifying curriculum, designing curriculum-based assessments, managing severe behaviors, developing individualized education programs (IEPs), leveraging community resources, and improving literacy.

Earn your Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT)

Designed for aspiring teachers and career-changers, the Master of Arts in Teaching degree program provides an appreciation for and an understanding of the diverse educational needs, social concerns, and cultural values of today’s elementary and secondary schools. This graduate degree in teaching will enhance your foundational skills, broaden your perspectives, and strengthen your ability to inspire and educate.

In addition, our MAT PLUS program provides students with the opportunity to complete the MAT and receive an additional license in special education (teacher of students of moderate disabilities, PreK-8 or 5-12) and or a certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL).

Built on Northeastern University’s scholar-practitioner model, the Doctor of Education (EdD) degree program integrates your professional experience with doctoral-level research—enabling you to identify and address your practice-based issues while investigating matters of social justice. Through rigorous course work and collaborative opportunities, you will conduct empirical research culminating in a doctoral thesis that examines a compelling educational challenge.

• Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leadership

  Helps educational leaders develop the competencies, dispositions, and values required to pursue educational reform, based on a commitment to social justice.

  
  
• Higher Education Administration 

  Examines the research and study across a variety of postsecondary education settings, including community and four-year colleges, for-profit organizations, and research institutions.

  
  
• Jewish Education Leadership

  Designed to meet the needs of Jewish educators and professionals who wish to take on greater leadership responsibilities within Jewish educational or communal organizations.

  
  
• Organizational Leadership Studies
  
The interdisciplinary curriculum is intended for leaders working in education, government, health care, military, not-for-profit, for-profit, and management consulting organizations and offers a strong foundation in leadership, communications, and strategy.
  

Students will complete most EdD coursework online with an additional required on-campus residency.
