We are so excited to have you join the Northeastern community for ArtWeek Boston!
Launched in 2014, the Northeastern Public Art Initiative creates a stronger sense of place on Northeastern's dense, urban canvas. Supported by President Joseph E. Aoun's mandate to turn the "campus into a canvas", this initiative has commissioned large-scale public artworks from international and Boston-based artists, as well as Northeastern faculty and students. "Art placed in public provides a unique opportunity to trigger ideas and provoke new ways of thinking" says Chair of Art + Design, Nathan Felde. The Public Art Initiative is a very public statement that Northeastern is an incubator of new ideas and creativity.
After the breakfast information session, the tour of Northeastern's public artworks will be lead by Bree Edwards, Director of the Northeastern Center for the Arts, where she is initiating artists residencies and public art projects.
