The Doctor of Education program in the Graduate School of Education at Northeastern University is designed for accomplished, working professionals who are passionate about driving change through innovative approaches in education. The program fosters the students’ ability to generate knowledge framed around questions of equity, ethics, and social justice. Using continuing cycles of action research, students will advance their ability to innovate and implement solutions to initiate systemic change in their own professional context.

 You’ll have the unique opportunity to:

  • Work on a Dissertation in Practice, at the onset of the program, and work directly with a faculty advisor using advanced research principles and data analysis to examine a compelling educational challenge.
  • Customize your coursework with our three concentrations including: Curriculum, Teaching, Learning, and Leadership; Higher Education Administration; and Organizational Leadership Studies. 
  • Gain skills, knowledge, and disposition to approach challenges in your professional environment with an understanding of how to assess organizational needs, develop strategies to create change, and assess their effectiveness. 
  • Meet with fellow students in Boston, Seattle, or Charlotte to form relationships, network, and share ideas. 
  • Collaborate with an ever-expanding global network of education leaders, including students, renowned faculty, and distinguished alumni. 

International Students - All students who are admitted to the program will take classes online, as they are only eligible for the Boston/Online cohort.
