Dave Thurman currently serves as Dean & CEO of Northeastern University’s Seattle campus Since joining Northeastern in 2018, he has launched industry-driven programs in data analytics, cybersecurity, and security & resilience studies, expanded
Northeastern’s South Lake Union campus, and helped built active partnerships with key technology and life science companies.
Prior to Northeastern, Thurman spent two decades with Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, initially leading research activities in human-machine
interaction, then managing the laboratory’s data analytics and cybersecurity technology portfolio.
Thurman received his BS degrees in mathematics and computer science from the University of Oregon, and his MS in human-machine systems engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Susan Enfield
A high school English, journalism and ELL teacher, Susan served as Chief Academic Officer and then as Interim Superintendent for Seattle Public Schools before coming to Highline in 2012. She previously held leadership positions in Evergreen Public Schools (Vancouver, WA), Portland Public Schools and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Susan is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, and earned master’s degrees from Stanford University and Harvard University.
She also holds a doctoral degree in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from Harvard’s Urban Superintendents Program.
McCarthy assumed the presidency in July 2015 after serving as vice president of instruction at Lake Washington Institute of Technology and dean of the Health Sciences, Education, and Wellness Institute at Bellevue College. He also served as the associate vice president of instruction at Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Ore.
Dr. McCarthy received his Ph.D. and master's degrees in American history from the University of Mississippi. He began his career as an educator and administrator at Colorado Rocky Mountain School. He also served as an instructor at the University of Mississippi and a visiting assistant professor at the University of Georgia.
