About the Event

Northeastern-Seattle’s College of Social Science and Humanities is hosting a MS in Economics Info Session and Faculty lecture on ‘Impacts in Financial Markets and Macroeconomy with Big Data. Director of the economics program, Jun Ma, PhD, will be talking about the dynamic correlations, predictions, and causal impacts in Financial Markets and Macroeconomy with Big Data.

Our virtual session will be divided into three parts:
  • Topic: Dynamic correlations, predictions, and causal impacts in financial markets and macroeconomy with Big Data
  • Information session: MS in Economics at Northeastern University (launching in Seattle Fall 2021)

MS in Economics - Launching this Fall in Seattle

The Master of Science program is designed to serve the need for a graduate degree for professional economists, government officials, and economic consultants, and to lay the groundwork for students who wish to pursue the PhD degree. The MS degree is designed to provide a solid foundation in economic theory and quantitative methods (core courses), while providing an opportunity for students to apply the tools of economic analysis to particular policy areas. The focus of the program is on application and practice.

Dr Jun Ma - Director of the Economics program

Ma’s primary research areas are macroeconomics and international finance, financial economics, applied time series econometrics, and the Chinese economy. He obtained his BA in economics from Nanjing University in 2001 and his Ph.D. in Economics from University of Washington (Seattle) in 2007.
