The Electrical and Computer Engineering department is affiliated with more than ten research centers and institutes such as the Institute for the Wireless Internet of Things, the Institute for Experiential Robotics, the Institute for Experiential AI, the SENTRY research center to protect the security of public spaces, and many more.

All engineering students have the opportunity to participate in Northeastern's cooperative education (co-op) program, gaining up to eight months of professional work experience as part of the academic curriculum.
