About the Master of Science in Security and Resilience Studies

The Master of Science in Security and Resilience Studies at Northeastern University is a first-of-its-kind graduate degree program that integrates traditional security studies with a focus on maximizing system and societal resilience. Because you’ll learn from both engineering and policy experts, you’ll gain a new perspective on security challenges, as well as the cutting-edge skills needed to prepare for, withstand, and recover rapidly in the face of man-made and natural disasters like climate change, pandemics, terrorism, and more. 

You’ll have the unique opportunity to:

• Gain hands-on experience with individually tailored capstone projects, the opportunity to engage in extended research projects, or participate in an optional co-op experience. 
• Customize your security studies graduate program with an elective theme that best aligns with your professional goals: Security Administration, Management and Policy, Counterterrorism and Conflict Studies, Cybersecurity Policy, Resilient Cities or Criminal Justice 
• Study and network with world-renowned experts who are informing and shaping the global approach to emerging threats and disaster recovery, such as Daniel Aldrich, director of the Center for Resilience Studies and Dr. Stephen Flynn, co-director of the George J. Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security. 
• Strengthen your resumé while gaining valuable experiential training through co-op, case studies, group work, capstone projects, and collaborative research relationships with government, private industry, and NGOs.
